Kipato Unbranded begins a new chapter, and it starts here.
Kipato Unbranded is now proudly under the ownership of Azadi, a community-driven enterprise passionate about shifting power back into the hands of African makers and creatives.
As funding for civil society shrinks, Azadi Kenya is stepping up with bold, sustainable solutions.
Azadi acquired Kipato Unbranded, not just as a revenue stream, but also as a feminist intervention to support women and communities affected by human trafficking through ethical, creative work.
At the heart of Kipato Unbranded’s new chapter is a deeper commitment to economic justice. We are creating a platform that prioritizes vulnerable groups, particularly communities affected by trafficking, who have long been excluded from safe and sustainable livelihoods. This new direction is grounded in feminist values and ensures dignity, autonomy, and equity in how we work, hire, and create.
We are also building a healing-centered workspace, where community members can grow their skills, rebuild confidence, and step into agency within an environment of support and respect. By generating flexible income through this work, Kipato will help Azadi reduce its reliance on short-term grants. This will allow for long-term, community-led planning and more consistent support across our programs.
Azadi Kenya believes in ethical fashion, economic empowerment, and preserving the beauty of African craftsmanship. Their support gives Kipato the wings to soar even higher, while keeping our core values intact: local production, fair pay, bold design, and radical authenticity.
